Expert

In brief

1

Inventory

Since all clients are unique, it’s essential to get to know you and the needs of your meeting. Together we assemble and prioritize your wishes and survey the means and resources needed to do our part in helping you achieve the goals you devised.

2

Proposal

Based on the above, a full proposal is presented to you. To be finetuned into a final proposal and contract. Because it’s all about detail and transparency.

3

Kick off

Clear goals and targets are agreed upon and we kick of the collaboration.

4

Operations

Acting as the liaison between you, the venue, the delegates and all other suppliers, you do
not need to worry about coordinating all their services, preparing a detailed planning and meeting script. Also, during the meeting overall coordination and trouble-shooting is taken care of on site.

5

After care

Review and evaluation will take place with you and your delegates, resulting in a full report.

30

Years of Experience

About

With over 30 years of experience in the Meetings Industry, I have been involved in bidding and organizing multiple international conferences worldwide. I started as the in-house PCO of the Free University in Amsterdam and in 2002 launched my own company, ‘Congress by design’, which grew to 15 employees in two Netherlands-based offices. In 2022, I handed over the company and am now available as a consultant, sparring partner, or project manager.

Passionate about events and driven by a belief in the power of face-to-face interactions to build communities and sharing knowledge, I strive for added value for clients. This has always been the core of my business thinking. I love developping and implementing innovative events and concepts that inspire and engage audiences. I am also target-oriented, detail-oriented, and work well in a team. Additionally, I have served on several boards to further the development and recognition of the industry and facilitate best practices through networking and education.

About

{

“In July 2022 we were struggling to recruit our operations manager and turned to Nicolette van Erven as an interim. We needed both her expertise and calm under pressure to guide the IUCN Events team towards the organization of the First IUCN Leaders Forum in Jeju, Republic of South Korea. Nicolette was able to jump in and to get the gist of the complex IUCN organization in record time. She was able to connect with other IUCN colleagues at our HQ in Switzerland as well as on site which enabled smooth and coordinated operations. As requested, she took the lead and with a steady hand helpedguide IUCN towards a successful Forum. No doubt, her 30+ years of experience added considerable value to our team and her insightful feedback will be extremely valuable for future IUCN global events."

Marc Magaud , Head- Global Convenings and Events, IUCN

"Since more than 30 years I collaborated with Nicolette as Professional Congress Organiser in organising the quadrennial International Symposium on the Diabetic Foot (ISDF). There are many ways in which I could describe Nicolette, but the numbers speak for themselves and are the best summary to start with. In the early years we had approximately 200 participants, now it is more than 1200 and the event is the leading international meeting on this topic. With progressive improvements and new ways to reach our audience, it is now a four day meeting with participants from all over the world and a faculty of 90 experts-in-the-field. Not without reason it was nicknamed “The Olympic games of the diabetic foot”. Nicolette played an important role in the continuous innovation of this event and contributed much to its success. Finally, to end with a personal note, I always enjoyed working with her and I hope many others will also have the pleasure in doing so."
