MCCM was established by merging the conference and educational activities of Convenience Conference Management and Lobbezoo Medical Communications. The founders of these companies, Nicolette van Erven and Marinus Lobbezoo, now managing partners of MCCM, have been collaborating more or less on a permanent basis in various conference projects prior to merging their activities. Having trained in travel and tourism and after having headed the VU University’s Congress Bureau for nine years, Nicolette van Erven established Convenience Conference Management in 2002, a company providing professional meeting services to customers in various segments, including industry, academia, and consultancy companies. Marinus Lobbezoo holds a Ph.D. degree in medicinal chemistry and has over 25 years of experience in biomedical research, medical communication, education, and meeting management. He has been involved in drug development in various therapeutic areas as well as in medical publishing. In 2001, he established Lobbezoo Medical Communications, a company providing consultancy services to customers in industry and academia, including concept development and project management of educational and conference projects. Thus, MCCM was founded on a solid basis of years’ long successful collaboration by its founders.
